- Item 01324: Clark Fincher, senior, 1973

Note: Clark Fincher--"I hope to be a Freshman med student in Little Rock next year."
"I am glad I went to Hendrix because I fell that this campus has the most conductive atmosphere for study and personal growth in the state."
"Although I favor the emphasizing of achievement, I do not think that a person should be rushed to this goal in disrgard for other important things."
"The freedom of choice of courses at Hendrix is good because i forces the students to make important decisions for themselves."
"I hope that Hendrix will continue its goal as a regional pacesetter inÃÂÃÂ higher education."

- Item 01325: Carl Crow, senior, 1973

Note: Carl Crow, Vice President of Student Senate, Martin Hall Senator, Judicial Council, Blue Key, Pre-Law. Band and Brass Choir--"After graduateion, I plan to go to law school."
"In describing Hendrix, the term, 'Hendrix Community' is, to say the least, overworked. However, the concept for which it stands must be recognized by the more than casual observer of Hendrix. This small-college feeling of togetherness (for lack of a better word) has significance and potential when the purpose of a liberal art college is considered, for it fosters the intellectual awareness and curiosity that are necessary for a complete education.
"On the other hand, Hendrix must be careful to retain the qualities which make it a fine place to live and study. In particular, Hendrix must guard against parochialism and intolerism. These attitudes can destroy the qualities which Hendrix may possess. Although the campus is not pervaded by these destructive forces, they have made inroads upon the atmosphere of intellectual freedom which must be maintained. Only the students can make certain that Hendrix never becomes a totally parochial and intolerant community, for the students are, after all, Hendrix."

Note: Mike Millar--"I plan to work in Little Rock and hope to attend University of Arkansas Law School. Also I'm going to get married."
"For me, Hendrix was a place to grow up, to learn, to make new and lasting friendships, and to develop life plans. Hendrix's emphasis on the individual, both academically and socially, offers opportunites for every student to broaden his outlooks and ambitions. My general conclusion after almost four years at Hendrix is that Hendrix offers most students a wealth of learning opportunities both in and outside the classroom."

Note: Sam Jones, political science major, from Benton--"I plan to study law at an out of state school and then return to Arkansas."
"I think the small size of Hendrix and its system of interrelated acitivities offers more security and stability than larger schools and hence affords a superior medium for the development of individual academic skills and extracurricular achievement. I believe a gradual evolution toward greater flexibility in class structure is desirable, but I have seen this concept too often abused to warrant its immediate wholesale use. The traditionally structured class schedule offers reasonable creativity and uniform learning."

Note: Bill Dedman--"I'm a biology major and I plan to go to medical schoool at University of Arkansas at Little Rock."
"Hendrix is a small enough college to have a cohesive relationship between the students, faculty, and administration. At Hendrix, it is easy to meet people, and that is an important part of college life. But the main purpose of a college is education, and Hendrix has helped me very much in doing this. I would like to see more emphasis put on learning in lieu of emphasis on grades. Also I would like to see Hendrix keep advancing in all areas so that it may retain the respect which has already maintained."
