Robert G. Shoemaker was born in Long Branch, New Jersey and attended Emory University as a Stipes Scholar.ÃÂ He graduated from Milsaps College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts.ÃÂ He went on to attend The University of Texas where he was a University Fellow and Woodrow Wilson Fellow.ÃÂ He graduated from The University of Texas in 1967 with a Ph.D. in philosophy.
Upon graduation, Shoemaker took a position at Hendrix College where he was Professor of Philosophy and Chairman of the Philosophy Department until his retirement in 1987.ÃÂ Shoemaker has published a number of articles and books including Falling in Love with Wisdom (Oxford University Press, 1994), Believing the Believable (BookSurge Publishing, 2002), and Being Human in the New Millenium (Krieger Publishing Co., 1994).
